Server hosting.

/_Trent_\
I found a site for server hosting. Unfortunately, I have no money. Which means, either I put in ads (which suck), Or ask you guys for donations, because I need money to host a minecraft server. Anyway, I also don't really have MEANS of recieving donations. I need one of those, too.

SlimeQuest!

Hey guys, it's Griffin.

I'll be starting a new video series, SlimeQuest, soon. I've filmed it and will let Trent do some editing and then the First installment of SlimeQuest will be ready! This one will feature live commentary from me and lots of TNT. After some hassle, I finally had to replace my mic, because we discovered that my family rabbit had chewed through the wire and broken our best mic. It sucks.

Sorry for all these short posts, but I've got school.

Minecraft Cannoneering!

That's right. For those of you who don't know what that is (probably a lot of people), It's making cannons to launch TNT at animals. I have my own signature cannon, which can fire up to 45 degrees left or right. I can also outfit it with extra TNT racks, allowing for up to 20 TNT to boost the projectile. One odd thing about cannons is that they fire better facing west. I'm gonna start making a video on it soon, so be prepared.

The Minecraft Combo Video

Hey guys, Griffin here.

After a number of attempts at making and editing our video of minecraft, and YouTube screwing up our first final, we have come out with the actual video! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFiXv2xSquE) Check it out and see that slo-mo flying zombie! On another note, my room is undergoing some serious remodeling so I won't be able to make Addicted to Minecraft until it is finished. All the background noise would ruin my movie.

Oh, and I found the ideal video recording software. From now on, I am using BlueBerry Express, or something of the like. It works well, it's free, and it is compatible with my mic.

Check out that vid and have fun.

JTG Studios

Hey guys, Griffin here.

As you know, if you read the last post, we are working on a video of Minecraft combos. I've finished all that recording and now Trent is doing some editing, so keep an eye out for the video.

Also, this blog will now be the official blog for JTG Studios, which is where I will be releasing all of my Minecraft (And other) videos, it is comprised of me, Trent (our editor), and Janna, who you might hear later on. I've been searching for a suitable screen recording software, but I can't find any... if you have any suggestions, (besides Fraps. Thirty second limit? Nada.) please leave them in the comments. I also got myself a new mic and found out how to make it compatible with all those recording softwares.

And now the short blog post ends. Keep an eye out for those vids, they will be posted as JTGStudios on youtube.

X's Adventures in Minecraft!

Hey all ye viewers, Griffin here.

I am likely to start a Minecraft 'let's play' sort of thing, called Addicted to Minecraft (=3). Inspired by X134 (davidr64yt) on Youtube and his Adventures in Minecraft series, I'm hoping I can get a couple viewers. It will feature me starting a new map, building in the map, mining through the map, and generally just building up a new civilization. With Trent's video editing skills, it might actually come out well.

Also, as any who have seen X's latest video will know, he has challenged everybody to duplicate his 'X-Combo' in a response video. Combining my video taking skills and Trent's video editing skills, we will make the most epic  Minecraft combo video ever. It will even feature a flying zombie. Do you know how hard it is to get a zombie to follow you into the exactly correct position to launch it into the air? Even if it does die two seconds after being flung, it still would be an exhilarating experience. Right?

Did you know that video clips take up huge amounts of hard drive space? Say, 220 MB for a eleven second clip? That's bigger than most of the games I played three years ago, and I played a lot of games. Some of you may be saying: "I thought this was a blog for beta games!!! Rage rage rage!!!" But while this is a blog focused (key word) on beta games and beta gaming, it is not only about those betas. We have to cover what we had for breakfast, how one of us knelt on an electrical plug and impaled their knee (it hurts), and how one of us had a nightmare about a kitten ripping off his arm. (Not really, just gave some random examples.)

I also recently sent some suggestions to Notch, including: Obsidian stuff, more underground stuff. Yeah yeah, vague and vaguer. Well, if I say, "Blah blah blah, I sent Notch this suggestion and that suggestion." he is like not to use them, because it would ruin it's capability to be in a 'Secret Friday Update'. I also asked him some specifics about slimes. Slimes are awesome.

Here, let me show you some pure, unedited, zombie air power.

Gah, you must be kidding, it gave me an error on a ten second clip! How dare it?

I'll give you some EDITED Z-Air power.

Robot Pirates!!!!

Hello everyone, Griffin here.

What is epic and awesome? Robot Pirates!!!! (http://www.lawlolawl.com/blog/robot-pirates/) "What's your biggest enemy? Computer HACKERS!" Oh yeah. Go computer hackers. Seriously though, you simply must take a look at Robot Pirates. While you're at it, check out the other videos on the site, this guy's got some funny animations. Trent even made us a Robot Pirate skin for Minecraft. Purely epic.

Speaking of Minecraft, Trent, another friend and I are working on a private role-playing application server. It will feature a huge amount of pre-built structures, such as towns and villages (and the Obsidian City) along with some farms, forests for wood-oriented villages, and the like. We will even have a couple artificial land features such as lakes, hills and valleys. (And maybe even a floating island! OoOoOoOoO!)

Hope you enjoyed. Griffin out.

It'sa me! Trent!

That's right, I'm the other guy working on this. I mostly post pretty short things, so if you say TL;DR to me, I'll shoot you. Anyway, from reading the post below me, you should be pretty psyched about Miner wars. And you should be. But if you said "zomg wordwall", and didn't read it, I'll summarize it.

MINER WARS IS EPIC. Ok, not a good summary. Accurate, but not good.

Well, for one thing, Miner wars has a fully destructible enviroment. By that, I mean you can destroy anything you feel like, unlike some wimpy games that don't let you do so. It combines single and multiplayer gaming, add many missions, and you've got yourself a really good game.

Minerwars, Minecraft, and an Introduction

Hello all ye, welcome to Chicken Soup for Beta Games. CSfBG is a joint effort between me (Griffin) and Trent. All of the design work is done by Trent, I will probably be doing most of the posting.

This here blog was created for Minerwars' blog contest. If you haven't yet seen it, Minerwars (Link here:  http://www.minerwars.com/) is a space mining/fighting type game. It features fully destructible asteroids which you can use explosives to mine, such as shooting missiles down a mining shaft. You can upgrade your ship, explore, mine, fight, and the like. It's got great graphics, an intricate singleplayer story, and multiplayer capacity.

Freelancer has always been one of my favorite games, the sort where you fly around in a seamless, open-ended universe, mining and fighting and completing tasks for mysterious clients. It seems as though Minerwars will be using that style, a world without borders or boundaries, in which you can do what you like, when you like, where you like. Unfortunately, it is unreleased and the demo is simply a cutscene. However, you can gain beta access by earning medals on their site for contributing to the project or drawing other to the game. Also, you can get 5 free copies of the game by participating in a blog contest in which you get points for getting visitors and posting on the blog. So get out there and spread the word about Minerwars!

Next up: Minecraft.Minecraft is an indie game that was not too popular until recently, when the creator, Notch, released the Survival and Survival Multi-Player versions of the game. Originally, there was only Creative mode, in which you explore a randomly generated world made completely out of blocks. You could destroy blocks, place new blocks, flood caves, and other interesting things like that. In creative, the sun was always up, everywhere always had an infinite supply of light. Creative also had a multiplayer option in which you built and destroyed whatever you wanted with a number of other people. I played Creative multiplayer with Trent on occasion. Then the very first version of Survival came out.

This new way to play Minecraft was popular throughout the community. It had the same basic principle, bash blocks and place blocks, except for two major differences: You begin with no blocks and have to dig up some dirt, stone, or whatnot to build anything, and there are enemies, such as giant spiders, zombies, and arrow-throwing skeletons. You have to punch enemies until they die, or you die. Eventually, Notch put out Indev, and subsequently Infdev. In both those versions you have an inventory and a crafting table, where you can make tools out of stone, iron, and diamond, doors, and other useful things. Another new intricacy in Indev and Infdev was the sky cycling between day and night, while enemies only spawned in dark areas. In natural caves, it was pitch black and required torches to see or do any mining. The only major difference between Indev and Infdev is that while Indev creates a map using settings you determine, Infdev randomly generates and infinite map for one to explore.

Both Indev and Infdev require you to buy a premium account (10 euro or about 13.50  US dollars) to play. Notch now has had 100,000 buyers and was recently in the US for business conversations, among other things. So if you have $13.50 on hand, I would definitely recommend buying Minecraft.

Griffin out.
